The Oracle with Liliane Attere McFarlane
THE ORACLE is Mojo Dojo Comedy's version of the classic improv format, the Armando. This long form improv show starts with a monologue by a special guest, often based on an audience suggestion.
After the guest speaks, a troupe of performers improvise scenes inspired by their monologue. If you have seen a Lee Rowley & Friends, Voyager, Coyote Butler, or an Assscat show, you will be familiar with The Oracle.
This month's guest speaker is Liliane Attere McFarlane of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. McFarlane is the former president of the Milwaukee African Women's Association whose passion for creating opportunity in Africa through textiles and her desire to see Africans working for Africa is the catalyst for her business and charitable work.
In the fall of 2014, McFarlane brought together partners from multiple Milwaukee community groups and agencies for a campaign called Fighting Ebola, Saving Lives: Our Global Community is in this Together. Over four months, this diverse group collected 10,000 disease prevention items donations to send to Sierra Leone, with $5,000 sent to Liberia.
It all takes place at Urban Harvest Brewing Company, where they brew hand-crafted ales and lagers in small batches several times a week. This creates a versatile line-up of beers to choose from, as well as adventurous seasonal and specialty brews.
