STORYTELLERS
James Braly

James, a two-time Moth GrandSlam winner, wrote & performed his off-Broadway hit  a New York Times Critics Pick -- Life in a Marital Institution: 20 Years of Monogamy in One Terrifying Hour. He also took that one-man show on a 14-city tour  sponsored by Meredith Vieira Productions.

He contributes to several NPR shows-- This American Life, Selected Shorts, Marketplace. He has performed at The Whitney Museum and Symphony Space.
He teaches storytelling at Fordham University.

He is working on a new show: The Monthly Nut: How much Misery Does it Take to be Happy?   Turns out, it takes a lot!

Nicole Ferraro

Nicole has performed in a zillion storytelling series: The Story Collider, Stoops to Nuts, WORD at Sidewalk Cafe, Sideshow Goshko, and more. Her personal essays have been published in The New York Times, Story Collider Magazine and New York Press to name a few. Shes also cohost of The New York Story Exchange, a monthly storytelling series at Cornelia Street Cafe. Her solo show, Why SO Much Shame? earned three awards and an additional performance in the Dead Parents Club Solo Show Festival.

Sofija Stefanovic

Sofija, a Serbian-Australian writer and storyteller living in New York, hosts the monthly literary salon Women of Letters at Joes Pub, and she tells stories with The Moth. Shes writing a memoir called Miss Ex-Yugoslavia, about coming of age as Yugoslavia dies, moving to Australia and embracing her identity as a perpetual fish out of water, featuring benevolent dictators, beauty queens, and everything in between (Atria Books). You can find her on Twitter, @sstefanovic

MUSICIAN:

Amalia Watty

Amalias irresistible bluesy-jazz-pop-soul sounds might remind you of Billie Holiday or Pharrell Williams, but she is a rising star with a style all her own. Refinery 29 named her one of the 8 New York Artists Who Could be the Next Madonna. She has performed at The Blue Note, US Open, The Bitter End, Live From Oz at The Hudson Hotel, Rockwood Music Hall, The Soho House in West Hollywood and more.

She hails from Anguilla in the Caribbean and grew up climbing cedar trees and roaming the forests singing as she gathered lemongrass leaves for bush tea.  LA-based producer/songwriter Jamie Houston (who has worked with Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Steven Tyler, Carlos Santana) helped Amalia produce her first single, Cry Sometimes. Her tender beauty will take your breath away.

THE BACK STORY:

Out by 10 Co-Founder and producer, journalist and storyteller,  Susan Seliger, hand picks the best musicians, storytellers and multimedia performers to create a night of inspiration (not to mention free wine) the second Friday of the month in an intimate NYC salon-like space.  Out by 10 -- it's a great place to get your culture fix fast!
