The Harold is the granddaddy of all improvisation structures. It's the ballet of improv - the form upon which almost all other forms are based and the most widely performed longform structure of all time. Born in 1967, the Harold is largely credited with creating longform improvisation as we know it today. Yep, it's pretty awesome. This Advanced Improv class introduces you to the basic elements of The Harold: Openings, Games, Three Beats of Scenes. Plus, we dive into the skills upon which the concept of Harold sits, such as recognizing and playing the patterns, establishing groupmind, and the beauty of controlled chaos. Then we put it all together to create a few Harolds of our own!
About your teacher: Scott Braidman has been learning, teaching, and performing improvisation for 14 years. He has studied and performed at The iO Theater in Chicago, The UCB Theater in New York, and ImprovBoston. He's currently living right here in the Happy Valley, performing with The Majesters and The Happier Valley Comedy Show.
***Students are required to attend at least six of the eight classes in order to graduate to the next level.***
