Wicked Good, Halfway Decent, Un'naugural Ball
The resistance starts tonight. Join Maine music and comedy legends, The Wicked Good Band, as they team up with Portlands most ridiculous sidewalk subversives, the Half Moon Jug Band, for a night of singing and laughter theyre calling the Wicked Good, Halfway Decent, Un'naugural Ball.
Dont sit at home in front of the boob tube, overwhelmed with feelings of dread and fear. Laugh in the face of danger while having a ball with these dubs, instead. Theyll be making friggin fools of themselves to raise money for Mayo Street Arts and the Maine Immigrant Musical Instrument Project two organizations making this town a better place.
The Wicked Good Band has been insulting Maine audiences with songs about clams, hake and other seafood since its pathetic beginnings as a bunch of misfits and weirdos at Deering High School in the 1960s.
The Half Moon Jug Band has annoyed shopkeepers on Exchange Street since the 1990s while doing daily battle against the humdrum forces of boredom and inaction. They want to make you dance at the top of your lungs.
The Maine Immigrant Musical Instrument Project puts guitars and keyboards in the hands of Portlands newest Mainers. Many of the citys most talented musicians had to flee their home countries without their axes.
Mayo Street Arts provides programming for neighborhood kids (in addition to everything else!) including Club Hip-Hop drop in dance classes, puppetry workshops and the Reading! Art! Dance! summer program.
