Porchfest Goes Indoors with Ari Hest, Chrissi Poland, and Dean Stevens
Arlington Porchfest goes indoors for a singer/songwriter cabaret with Ari Hest, Dean Stevens and Chrissi Poland. Doors open at 7 for free snacks and drinks. Comedienne and emcee Stirling Smith will open the cabaret at 7:30.
Grammy-nominated Ari Hest dreamt of baseball stardom as a youth. After injuring his throwing arm at 16, however, he started playing guitar in the hallways of his high school. When he graduated college with a degree in communications, he wanted to play music more than anything else, and so he hit the road, hard. Since then Ari has created eight solo albums, music for film and television, and he has collaborated with artists Rosi Golan, Chrissi Poland and Judy Collins. "Silver Skies Blue," which Hest recorded with Judy Collins, has been nominated for a 2017 Grammy for best folk album.
Soul singer Chrissi Poland will perform several songs with Ari Hest at the Porchfest cabaret as well as presenting her own jazz and blues-influenced pieces. Poland hails from southern Massachusetts but now lives in New York City, where she performs regularly at venues including the Living Room, the Rockwood Music Hall, and the Bitter End. Her favorite musical collaborations include working with rock artist Moby on Last Night and performing with Sting.
Boston-based songwriter, performer and humanitarian activist Dean Stevens sings out his love of Latin culture and his commitment to social justice, performing original and traditional songs in English and Spanish. Stevens, born in Central America, credits the Community Church of Boston and the Arlington Teosinte Sister City Project with nurturing his creative work.

Porchfest Goes Indoors will return on March 25 with Rosemere Road, Le Prestige, and Arlington-based FBGM.
Proceeds from both concerts will be donated to the ACA Future Fund. For the past 27 years, ACA has provided vibrant arts programming for thousands of kids, teens, adults, seniors, artists, and performers. In 2017 ACA will lose its long-time home when the town reclaims the Gibbs Building for middle school classes. ACA has launched the Future Fund Capital Campaign to raise $1 million to create and sustain its new home at the Central School, where it will continue its classes, camps, community art exhibitions, and studio art spaces.
