Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Sarah Arnold, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Mary Kane, Emily Lindholm, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, theyve heard the term "local music.
January guest: Geoffrey Brown is a Minneapolis-based musician. Formerly of the Celtic band The Dregs, he currently performs in the Americana act, Timeless, with his partner Robin Conama. Geoffrey has toured nationally with The Brogues and the Lost Boys. He counts among his influences Bob Dylan, John Denver, and Paul Simon. He also regularly performs improv and insult comedy with Vilification Tennis and has been known to frequent Renaissance Festivals with acts as varied as street juggler, rain wizard, and pub musician.
