MUSIC OF THE SEASON: Elise Campbell (flute) and Deborah Hui (piano)
Recognized as a natural flutist-playing with a rapturous tone, clean technique, and soulful music making by her present and former teacher, flutist Elise Campbell enjoys a diverse musical career as a soloist and chamber/ensemble musician. A senior at the University of Colorado Boulder, Ms. Campbell is delighted to study with world-renowned flutist, Christina Jennings. In addition to her performance degree, Ms. Campbell is pursuing a Minor in Business and will also be receiving an Entrepreneurship Certificate from the College of Music. She is involved with the CU presents Box Office, and has been working closely with her colleagues in the Arts Administration field. Prior to beginning her studies at CU, Elise studied with the assistant principle flutist of the Cleveland Orchestra, Marisela Sager and was the principle flute of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra. Elise performed with COYO in China, Austria and Prague and has performed with other ensembles in Spain & Portugal. Ms. Campbells other unique musical ability came to light while attending summer music festivals, such as Interlochen and ARIA. This ability has surprised and delighted many people over the past several years. Elise hopes that the serious and whimsical part of her performance today will bring you holiday cheer!
Canadian pianist Deborah Hui currently attends the University of Colorado Boulder and is pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano, studying under Alexandra Nguyen and Margaret McDonald. She holds a Master of Music degree from Baylor University, and received her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of British Columbia. Deborah was a finalist in the Mid-Texas Symphony Young Artists and Baylor Concerto Competitions. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda and was twice awarded the Roger L. Keyes Award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Piano at Baylor. Deborah has appeared at the Vancouver International Song Institute, Marrostone, fresh inc, and Colorado College Summer Music Festivals. She has served as Collaborative Pianist and Coach at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and at the Tuscia Opera Festival in Italy.
