The Festival of Cinematic & Audio Visual Experimentation (CAVE) is a descent into the deep dark underground, an exploration of inner and outer Hinterlands, and a celebration of warm internalities and cold extremities. This selection of experimental film and video work comes from artists across North America, and explores ideas of dreaming, hibernation and hallucination, inspired by the dark and cold of Northern winter. Featured Artists and Curators will be in attendance at each screening.
This screening will feature the work of experimental filmmakers and moving image artists from Winnipeg and Minneapolis, including the world premiere of the three-projector expanded cinema 16mm film "Everything Turns" by Winnipeg-based filmmaker Aaron Zeghers.
CAVE is a three-day festival of experimental film and video taking place at several venues in Minneapolis from January 11-13. It is co-presented by The Walker Art Center and Cellular Cinema, a collective of Minnesota-based experimental filmmakers and moving image artists who have been curating screenings, offering workshops, programming festivals and creating other events in Minneapolis since 2014. www.cellularcinema.org
