Of Stars and Hurricanes: Two Columbia Novelists Return
In honor of Columbia's 50th birthday, HoCoPoLitSo and the Wilde Lake Community Association present Carrie Brown and John Gregory Brown reading from their most recent novels. About The Stargazers Sister, Caroline Leavitt of the Boston Globe described Carrie Brown's writing as "luminous as the skies her characters contemplate." The New York Times said John Gregory Brown's A Thousand Miles from Nowhere is a "deeply humane look at the vulnerability of black lives, the New South and the restorative potential of literature in the aftermath of catastrophe."
Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 3:30pm. Book sales from 3:30-4pm and after the reading. Signing and reception to follow.
