Melton & More Dinner and Learn with Yaki Gantz
"Every Number Has a Name" Yaki Gantz was a Shin Bet agent for many years. When he retired, he decided to dedicate his life to guiding visitors to Poland and teaching them about the Holocaust. He has been doing this for the past 17 years. When he discovered a Jewish graves in a church graveyard, he started researching the subject. Every Number Has a Name refers to the numbers tattooed on dead Jewish bodies which were found on the wayside of the Death Marches by Christian Poles and subsequently buried by these Poles in common graves. Before their burial, the Poles wrote down the numbers tattooed on the Jewish arms for identification. Yaki Gantz has been building memorials for these people. Before building the memorials, Yaki works on identifying them by comparing their numbers to lists made by the Nazis of names of murdered Jews. So far he has created 6 memorials. Yaki will discuss his project through visuals and testimonials.
