Join us for a special one-night event showcasing some of the Bay Area's most innovative video and projection artists, presenting site-specific artworks amongst Fairyland's fantastical architecture, sculptures, and amusement rides.
Artists: Susan Chen- beautiful, painterly nature animations Fictilis- a participatory, projected thumb wrestling tournament Emily Alden Foster- Dreamboat, a video dream-recreation featuring Owl People Erica Gangsei- stop-motion animation adventures using found and recycled materials Lydia Greer- an animated answer to the question "what happens at Fairyland after dark?" Daniel Healey and Michael Deane- expressionist animations using vintage televisions Ranu Mukherjee- vivid digital animations reflecting on technology and displacement Jeff Ray- an abstracted video tour of Oakland Darren Russel- deciBall, a sound and color based video game Eric Stewart- a surrealist video mis-matching animals and the sounds they make Jayne Vidheecharoen- Caturn's Space Aerobics, an animated planetary cat leads the audience in glowing hoola-hoop activities Bryan Von Reuter- immersive multi-media installations Maggie Wong and Seth Neill- Eye Beam, combining sculpture and bright geometric animations
Musical performances by members of Clipd Beaks, Mwahaha, and White Cloud, Bryan Von Reuter, and Taser Island: "Never afraid to delve head first into the mysterious and ethereal, the members of White Cloud, Mwahaha and Clipd Beaks have created distinct but complementary worlds sonically and aesthetically over the past few years. The members of these three groups will share and rotate instrumental duties to create an improvised sonic landscape paired with visuals by Bryan Von Reuter."
