Christopher Paul Stelling
Christopher Paul Stelling arrived in NYC in 08' with a guitar and a duffle bag. Not necessarily concerned with making a name for himself, circumstance and necessity soon found him singing and playing guitar on the subway platforms. The years prior had seen him through an odyssey. From studying under a master guitar builder in colorado, working a produce market in Boston, sleeping in a closet in North Carolina, managing a used bookstore in Florida, wandering aimlessly through Seattle, all without a said plan in mind, vaguely unaware that something was being stitched together beneath it all. Those New York subway platforms soon gave way to stages. Christopher has played many of New York's stages including Rockwood Music Hall, Highline Ballroom, Lit Lounge, Pianos, The Living Room, Bowery Electric, Sidewalk Cafe, Glasslands, The Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, etc. He has opened for many acclaimed national acts and headlined many of his own shows. He has toured regionally and nationally. His finger-style guitar playing comes off effortless, bringing to mind the likes of at times John Fahey and Sandy Bull and at other times that of Segovia. Christopher's song writing reaches deep, spineward, with a lyrical styling reminiscent of anything from Dylan, to Faulkner or Walt Whitman.
