TPR Special Mozart Festival Screening: Amadeus
As part of the San Antonio Symphony Mozart Festival, join us for this special screening on Tuesday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Santikos Palladium! Prior to the screening, well visit with members of the San Antonio Symphony to learn more about the Mozart Festival and the various partner projects that will be happening around town.

Tickets are available for a suggested price of $10 for TPR Members and $15 for non-members. Proceeds benefit Texas Public Radio.

The winner of eight Academy Awards, AMADEUS is a fanciful story about the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the jealous lengths his rival, Antonio Salieri, will go to find favor in the eyes and ears of Emperor Joseph II. The movie stars Tom Hulce, F. Murray Abraham, Jeffrey Jones, and Elizabeth Berridge. For the film, Mozarts music was arranged and conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, and provides a heavenly backdrop to Peter Shaffers words, adapted from his stage play of the same name.

Hulces Mozart is a hilariously impish lad; music seems to pour out of him without effort. But as Salieri, F. Murray Abraham is the films emotional center. He recognizes greatness in Mozart, as well as his own inadequacy. How he chooses to reconcile that (or not) is the crux of the plot. But AMADEUS isnt a movie that wallows in sturm und drang; its a delight from start to finish, and very funny.

When it was released in 1984, AMADEUS was 161 minutes long. For this screening, well be showing the three-hour Directors Cut first assembled by Milos Forman in 2002.

This film will be at the Santikos Palladium, and will begin at 7 p.m. The Box office will open at 5 p.m., with seating beginning at 6 p.m.
