One foot planted in the Circus World and the other walking the Gypsy Trail - this is The Wanderlust Circus; hosted by Mr. Creature, an abstract adventurist on a pilgrimage through the jungles of today's performance art culture. From its roots in San Francisco to its current home in Portland's Hippodrome Circus Arts Center, The Wanderlust Circus features cutting-edge circus talent from the farthest reaches of the I-5 Corridor, a multitude of performers drawn together by the call of the open road. Step onto that road with us for a night and enjoy our display of spectacular human ability, followed by a performance from 3 Leg Torso with their eclectic synthesis of chamber music, tango, klezmer, latin and world music. We proudly present the following lineup of amazing talent:
Nanda A tidal wave of dance juggling and crazy kung-fu acrobatics.Nanda fills the house with unrelenting skill and comedy knit into a sonic soundscape that will tear through any preconceived ideas you may have about the world. The profoundly organic entertainment performed by these four friends has been evolving slowly for the past 20 years when the young gentlemen met as toddlers back in Port Townsend, WA where they grew up. These four, once feral little hippy kids have grown into 4 enlightened ninja jugglers with skills to win a revolution. Nanda is: Chen Pollina, Kiyota Sage, Misha Fradin, & Tomoki Sage. Any chance you get to see these modern day heroes do their thing is an opportunity of a lifetime and should not be overlooked! www.nandatown.com
Kazum Prepare to have your spirits lifted to new heights by Portland's premiere acrobatic dance troupe. Kazum has been Cleverly combining acrobalance, adagio and cheer-leading stunts to create high-flying, jaw-dropping spectacles since 2005. Kazum has collaborated with many of the most beloved groups in Portland's dynamic culture including Heroes & Villains, Trashcan Joe, Sweet Juice and The March 4th Marching Band. This fearless four-tet has been seen brandishing their high energy flair at such places as Portland's Earth Day Festival, The Oregon Country Fair, The Alberta Street Fair, Pickathon, Pizzazz: The Mercury Talent Show, Batty's Hippodrome and more. www.myspace.com/kazum__

Noah Mickens A man of many skins and a 10-year veteran of the underground circus rennaissance, Noah Mickens doffs his trademark top hat to join Wanderlust Circus in the role of Comic Foil. Speechless troubadour clown Dewhurst serves as reluctant stagehand and would-be star of the show, leading a mischievous mob of musical madcaps intent on derailing the circus train and riding off with the applause. Other suits in the Mickens wardrobe include those of ringmaster (Batty's Hippodrome, 999 Eyes, Cicuri Curajul), impressario (Societas Insomnia, 2Gyrlz, Gekikai), percussionist (Nequaquam Vacuum, Steve MacKay Ensemble, Soriah), nightclub booker (Someday Lounge, Rotture, Branx), butoh dancer (P.A.N.), and freelance M.C. The Gr8 Devinio has danced and juggled on the streets from SF, to Melbourne, to London and back. He has performed in The American Circus Festival, the SF Supperclub, and with the New Pickle Circus.

Vanessa Vortex Raised in New York City by Broadway superstars, Vanessa was trained in dance, music and theater as a child. After a brief early adulthood rebellion where she studied science, Vanessa picked up a hula hoop in 2004 and launched her true passion for circus arts. Under the guise of Agent Vortex, Vanessa dances fly-girl style as part of Portland Oregon's original all-female, mini-bike dance team, The Sprockettes. www.vanessavortex.com
Brittany Walsh Today's Annie Oakley of archery! Brittanys dexterity in hand balancing is the artistic result of thirteen years of competitive gymnastics. She has been studying hand balancing for nearly three years now, and has acquired quite the appetite for performance and circus arts. Brittany is currently a member of Do Jump! Extremely Physical Theatre, and has been seen performing with the novelty ninja rock band, Fist of Dishonor. She has made appearances at the Oregon Country Fair, various benefit shows and corporate events.
After the circus, check out an amazing performance from the acclaimed musical group: 3 Leg Torso!
3 Leg Torso formed in 1996 as a violin, cello and accordion trio with the mission of creating original modern chamber music for their unique instrumentation. Over the following years the band has expanded both its musical mission and its size to become a quintet that now performs its eclectic synthesis of chamber music, tango, klezmer, latin and world music. As principal composers, founding members Bla Balogh (on violin and trumpet) and Courtney Von Drehle (on accordion) provide the core of 3 Leg Torso's sound. They are joined by veteran percussionist/mallet player Gary Irvine, the fastidious mallets/percussion of T.J Arko and the fiery upright bass player Michael Papillo.
The bands history began with street performances, which they titled "Meestering", and has led to their releasing two CD's (3 Leg Torso and Astor in Paris), East Coast and West Coast tours, performances with symphony orchestras and a profile on National Public Radios "All Things Considered" . The cinematic nature of their music has made it a natural for them to work with many independent film makers. These collaborations have included scoring The Dowager's Feast and The Dowager's Idyll, two films by Academy Award winning animator Joan Gratz; Collaboration with Sundance Film Festival award winner Rob VanAlkemade for his documentary titled "Preacher With An Unknown God", most recently contributing music to VanAlkemade and Morgan Spurlock's (SUPER SIZE ME) film "What Would Jesus Buy?", scoring "With Hope and Help", a United Nations funded documentary on AIDS in Thailand; the piece Divertissments for Performing Bears being used as theme music for a Bosnian television series. In 2003, Von Drehle was awarded a Fellowship at the Sundance Film Composers Lab. Twice the band has been commissioned by the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art to create new evening length works, most recently involving a collaboration with David Greenberger, the originator of The Duplex Planet www.3legtorso.com
