Symposium on New Choral Music & Social Consciousness
THIS IS A REGIONAL EVENT. OPEN & FREE TO ALL.
Attendance is especially encouraged by members of the Washington American Choral Directors Association, as they are a partial sponsor.
The purpose of the Symposium on New Choral Music & Social Consciousness is to foster dialogue around current events and social consciousness as a means for building a bridge from the choral art to its audiences.
6:00 PM - Reception hosted by Mid-Columbia Mastersingers & Justin Raffa
7:00 PM - Program
At the reception, mingle with conductors, composers, singers, and people who share an interest in the performing arts and social justice. We will provide light refreshments and a space for you to network and to meet wonderful like-minded people.
The program will include:
(1) a short performance by Chorosynthesis Singers under the direction of Jeremiah Selvey & Wendy Moy, including possible interaction with composers of the work(s) being performed;
(2) a panel discussion with professional performers and composers;
(3) and a brief informal conversation among artistic directors about the importance of social consciousness in the music we perform.
