Barnstormers
The Drinking & Writing Theater opens the brand new show Barnstormers on September 12 at 8:00 p.m. at the Drinking & Writing Theater at Haymarket Pub & Brewery. Written by former Neo-Futurists Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda, the SportsCenter-eque Barnstormers is a fast-paced comedy that explores the connection between drinking, writing, sports, theater as sport, and, most importantly, the ties between legacy and failure. Based on the lives and experiences of athletes like Pete Rose and Tiger Woods; writers like Ring Lardner and Ernest Hemingway; sports in movies, songs, and pop culture; and the authors' own successes and failures in theater (both were longtime members of The Neo-Futurists and co-founders of The Drinking & Writing Theater) and sports (both were failures as athleteswhich accounts for their theater careers). Barnstormers runs September 12 through October 6, Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday nights there are $3.00 pints of Haymarket's Speakerswagon Pilsner. Tickets are $15.00 and available at www.drinkingandwriting.com. Running time is 60 minutes.
