Slide Show and Bus Tour to Downey, CA home of Karen and Richard Carpenter
Randy L. Schmidt, author of Little Girl Blue: The Life of Karen Carpenter, shows and tells us the epic story, as he shares his unparalleled insight into the life and times of the Carpenters.
11am-3pm - begins and ends at the Downey Woman's Club.
This four-hour extravaganza begins with a very special slide show of rare images and behind-the-scenes stories of their legendary rise to superstardom and Karen's shocking death at the age of 32.
Following the slide show we will board a bus and tour landmarks including: (but not limited to)
The Shoji Apartments where they first lived when they moved to California from Connecticut in 1963 Downey High where they went to school The home Karen and Richard shared after their superstardom The luxury home they bought for and shared with their parents where Karen died Their Only Just Begun and Close To You Apartments, named after first mega hits Methodist Church where her funeral was held no host lunch at El Taco, site of her last meal PLEASE NOTE: $79.00 ticket price includes slide show, taco snack at El Taco and transportation. This tour will happen RAIN OR SHINE. Wear comfortable walking shoes. We will not be touring home interiors. Itinerary may change without notice PLEASE BE ON TIME!
