Learn about new initiatives to support women in the Lowcountry. Jennet Alterman, the Center for Women's Executive Director, will discuss the resources available to help women succeed every dayprofessionally and personally. Among the topics discussed will be business expertise available to support female entrepreneurs, leadership training, and support for Ovarian Cancer patients. September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month and the Center for Women provides education and support services to women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, their caregivers and friends. Jennet Robinson Alterman has had the great privilege of serving as the Executive Director of the Center for Women since 2001. Her previous experience in broadcast news, state and federal government and international development have contributed to the evolution of the Center's programs, PR and marketing strategy, and most recently a 5 year grant from the US Small Business Administration. Jennet serves on several Boards and Commissions and is a strong and vocal advocate for increasing the number of women in leadership positions. To that end she has created the Women and Power series and been instrumental in supporting the collaboration of local consultants to launch the Women's Leadership Institute. Jennet was awarded an honorary doctor of Humane Letters from the College of Charleston.
$5 per ticket will be donated to support the Center for Women's Ovarian Cancer Awareness program.
