Film and Learn: Jewish Soldiers in Blue and Gray
Jewish Soldiers in Blue and Gray (2011, Jonathan Gruber) explores the little known history of the Civil War Jews who fought on both sides of the battlefield--7,000 for the Union and 3,000 for the Confederacy. Brother against brother, Jew against Jew, this dramatic and visually rich film demonstrates how this devastating war split the Jewish community as it did the nation at large.
Post-Film Discussion will be led by Dr. Melissa Weininger of Rice University.
