Whisperings Piano Concert
A relaxing evening of solo piano music with 3 award-winning composers and pianists, at the beautiful Encinitas Library performance center.

CHAD LAWSON
Steinway artist & composer, Chad Lawson, has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, NPR's All Things Considered and his latest release, The Chopin Variations, reached #1 on Billboard, iTunes and Amazon classical charts in 2015. His music has been used for The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries, Lore podcasts, Delta Airlines and numerous commercials as well as film/television.

After attending Berklee College of Music, Lawson formed his own jazz trio, the albums doing well on the jazz charts and featured on the TV show Dawson's Creek. Chad then toured as keyboardist with Julio Iglesias in 2007. William Ackerman, Windham Hill's founder, had taken an interest in Lawson's music, and helped launch Lawson's first solo album, "Set on a Hill", in 2009, which was awarded Whisperings Album of the Year. It marked a new direction for Lawson's career as five more solo projects appeared between 2011 and 2014, each earning deserving recognition. Lawson's solo work has a relaxed, meditative feel that draws on both the sonorities of classical music and the freeform nature of jazz improv.

KEVIN KERN
Beginning with his phenomenally successful debut CD, In the Enchanted Garden, Steinway Artist and composer, Kevin Kern has developed his own unique musical voice where melodies exude lyricism, simplicity, and a directness that touches the heart of the listener. Legally blind since birth, Kevins special relationship to the piano both as a performer and composer expresses itself most clearly in a concept he calls sound painting where he uses the piano to create musical pictures for his listening audience. The influences of lifelong friend and mentor, jazz great George Shearing, and Detroit Symphony Pianist Mischa Kottler helped foster his love of improvisation and to further appreciate the beautiful sound a piano could produce.

A six time Billboard charting artist, Kevin Kern has performed to sold-out audiences throughout the US and Asia.  Highlights have included a special performance for the G20 Summit in Seoul, an eight city tour with "Britain's Got Talent" winner Paul Potts, and a triumphant five city tour of China. His music has appeared on David Letterman, Oprah, NPR as well as international television dramas such as Korea's iconic "Autumn in My Heart - seen in over 40 countries by more than 100 million people. His music has been used in commercials for Mitsubishi, Blue Cross, and is a perennial favorite for the in-flight programming offerings of many of the world's major airlines including United, Delta and Singapore Airlines.  Kern's latest album, "When I Remember" is nominated for Whisperings Album of the Year 2016.

CHRISTINE BROWN

A Kawai piano artist and gifted composer, Christine's music is a unique blend of contemporary, new age and classical sounds. Her graceful, elegant touch is gentle, yet powerful. With the piano, Christine paints a colorful landscape with her thoughtful, musical interpretations of life's emotions and experiences. Christine's childhood classical training is evident in her melodic and thematic compositions, while rich harmonies reflect her background in accompanying various choral groups. From Chopin to Joplin, her influences were varied and many, and also inspired by George Winston's new age genre of solo piano.

"Seamless" is Christine's 11th album, featuring unique arrangements of classic cover songs. Blending unexpected song pairings while weaving in classical and new age pieces, Christine's clever and imaginative fusions of timeless melodies creates a sophisticated and seamless musical tapestry. Reviewers say "the range of this album is astounding and the execution of it is brilliant, highlighting Christine Brown as one of the most imaginative artists in the solo piano genre today." Her previous album, "Souvenirs" was awarded "Whisperings Best Piano Album of the Year 2014". Previous albums include 2 nominations for Piano Album of the Year and top 10 rankings in the New Age charts. In addition to her award-winning original works, she has arranged popular Christmas and children's music.
