Q Morrow, Clay Moore with Emily Braden
Please join us for a wonderful night of guitar music at Cinder featuring NYC guitarist Q Morrow, local treasure Clay Moore, and special guest vocalist Emily Braden from NYC. Presented by The Idaho Songwriters Association.
Q and Clay will present two sets of intimate solo guitar music playing jazz, blues, Latin, and original music joined by guest vocalist Emily Braden.
Jazz guitarist Clay Moore is a rare find on today's jazz scene a unique voice that strengthens and expands the jazz idiom with sensitivity, clarity, and uncompromising integrity. Clay's warm, expressive tones and impeccable phrasing have been delighting U.S. and international audiences for over 20 years.
Clay was born in 1956 in Amarillo, Texas. His family was avidly musical, and he was surrounded by a variety of live and recorded music growing up American folk, blues, classical, African, Caribbean, and jazz.
Well schooled in many styles of music and guitar technique, Q is a rare breed of guitarist who feels at home in any style of music. Having studied extensively jazz, funk, pop, rock, and classical guitar here in the far West, Carnatic (South Indian Classical) and Hindustani music in the far East, Brazilian and Cuban music on the side, it would be no stretch to say that his versatility is his strongest point.
Originally from Caldwell, ID, Q has also lived and worked as a musician in San Francisco, CA and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. He is an active part of NYC's vibrant jazz and Brazilian music scenes.
For this special concert, Q will present a special set of music comprised of his originals, some Brazilian styles, and jazz standards.
Big, bad beauty from Boise, Idaho, Emily Braden covers a lot of ground. Whether shes fronting an orchestra on the west coast or leading a world-class trio in the heart of Manhattan, Braden has the innate ability to win the heart of any audience with her powerhouse vocals and striking stage presence.
Winner of New York Citys prestigious "Best of the Best" Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, Bradens signature sound is an effortless blend of jazz and soul. Her knock-out debut album Soul Walk is composed of high-energy originals and "flipped-out" jazz standards. Producer Misha Piatigorsky says, As a singer, Emily has no boundaries. She gives me goose bumps. Braden has performed as a headliner at NYC venues such as the Blue Note Jazz Club (Late Night Groove Series), Nublu, Smalls Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, The Kitano and the Iridium Jazz Club as well as on international stages. She recently completed a weekly residency at Richard Bona's Club Bonafide in New York City with guitarist Richard PadrĂ³n. Braden's versatility and infectious energy make her a highly sought after collaborator and special guest. She is the lead vocalist and lyricist for the twenty plus member Sketchy Orkestra and works regularly with her band Double Bass, Double Voice, Oliver Swain's Big Machine and saxophonist Matt Parker.
See Braden live and shell make you a believer. This girl is smokin, smokin hot.
