Sober Queer History
If you're looking for something queer, Pagan, or just plain not Christmas this December as an antidote to the cornucopia of Santa hats and live Nativities this winter, look no further than Gadfly's own headquarters, The Fox Egg Gallery on December 17th and 18th. Gadfly and its long-term non-monogamous partner The Fox Egg Gallery manage to fit something for everyone into two meaningful nights of community and connection.
We're closing this weekend on Sunday night, when Gadfly gets off the holiday train altogether with a new twist to their Drunk Queer History seriesSober Queer History on Sunday, December 18th at 7:00 PM. This event will feature actor and dancer Anton Lamon as our storyteller for the evening; while normal DQH events focus solely on stories from the annals of queer history, this format allows for some personal storytelling and testimonial so the audience learns what's happening in our community today as well, and so that the event can give a much-deserved spotlight to the sober voices in our community doing the hard advocacy work and often getting overlooked or edged out of social opportunities. Members of Lavender Panic improv group will take Lamon's stories and run wild, ensuring this event is AT LEAST as entertaining as the regular series.
Sober Queer History allows Gadfly the opportunity to collaborate with Out & Sober, an important social group in the Twin Cities that helps queer community members in recovery build sober networks and have access to resources, educational opportunities, and fun social opportunities that are safe and inclusive for them.
Gadfly is excited to continue using their run at the Fox Egg Gallery to drive home that this is a safer creative space for all through this partnership. Tickets are just $10, though this event serves as a fundraiser for Gadfly and the Fox Egg Gallery, so higher priced tickets are available and are considered donations.
