Sing for King
On December 18th we will honor Naperville resident, Chris Benyo, as the third recipient of the Kingston Award. The Kingston Award is designed to acknowledge selfless acts, extraordinary people and living life to it's fullest potential regardless of what life gives you in return. Chris Benyo is a PE teacher at Meadow Glens Elementary in Naperville. Benyo has been an advocate for ALS/MDA since his late wife, Denise DiMarzo, was diagnosed in 2010. They both shared a passion for running and planned a future of activities together. DiMarzo was diagnosed just six months after their wedding. Although life had thrown an unexpected turn, Benyo would go on to push DiMarzo in her chair at marathons to raise awareness for ALS and keep alive their passion for running. Recently, Benyo ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon pushing DiMarzo's empty chair in tribute to her. When he hit mile 26, Benyo got DiMarzo's picture out of her chair and held it in his left hand as he crossed the finish line. It was important for him to have the love of his life with him as he accomplished what would have been their ninth marathon together. Please join us for music, joy, laughter and to honor Chris Benyo. Reception will follow. Past recipients of The Kingston Award include Kingston Bowen and Aleks Lazic.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit MDA - Muscular Dystrophy Association
