Based in Silver Spring, SOL VISTA has successfully developed and marketed the proprietary Skywalk SaaS platform that helps commercial building operators to quickly and continuously reduce utility expenses. With a niche serving upscale hotels, Skywalk combines automated web data extraction (similar to mint.com) with powerful analytics to provide subscribers with visibility into their buildings and insights to drive savings. Skywalks subscribers include nearly 200 buildings located throughout the U.S, including many well-known hotel brands such as InterContinental, JW Marriott, Westin, and W Hotels. Shannon Sentman, JD, MSRE, LEED AP, is a recovering big-firm attorney, wanna-be programmer, and bootstrapped entrepreneur who is currently over five years into his first startupSOL VISTA. In his role as CEO and Co-founder, Shannon has worn the many hats of a startup founder, suffered expected and unexpected highs and lows, and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. In those years, he has helped to grow SOL VISTA on its own revenue while transitioning it from a primarily service-based revenue model to a product-based revenue model. In addition to his role with SOL VISTA, Shannon is an adjunct professor at University of Maryland, a frequent lecturer at other universities, an oft published author, and a national leader in the high-performance building industry.
