2017 SPJ/AAJA New Year Scoop

The annual SPJ/AAJA party is here to bring together area journalists and their supporters in one big year-end bash. Don't miss NEW YEAR SCOOP!

Last year's event raised thousands of dollars in scholarships for aspiring journalists. This year, we hope to raise even more to help the next generation. Everyone is welcome -- minors under 21 are welcome until 9 p.m. -- so bring your friends!

General Tickets: $15 ($20 at the door)
Student Tickets: $10

This year's event, co-hosted once again by your SPJ Western Washington chapter and AAJA Seattle, will be from 6-10 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Fado Irish Pub Seattle, 801 1st Ave.

You can even do your holiday shopping at the party. Buy prints donated by the NW Photojournalism Print Swap to help raise money for "Passion Projects." Visual journalists have been hit hard in the downsizing of newspaper newsrooms, but that hasn't stopped many of them from continuing their passionate work. The Passion Projects grants help these visual journalists work on projects that cover a range of local and regional topics including environmental issues like coal, oil, pipelines, pollution; as well as social issues such as the sex trade, immigration and hidden communities.
