Inside the piano, outside the box, a salon with pianist Barbara Lieurance
Greater Boston House Concerts presents pianist Barbara Lieurance in an exciting salon of music for solo piano.
Combining daring programming with an engaging performance style, Barbara Lieurance brings pianistic virtuosity of an entirely new kind to the Salon. In the program, "Inside the piano, outside the box", Ms. Lieurance champions the compositional tour-de-force "Rhapsodies" by C. Curtis-Smith the first piece to ever be written for bowed piano along with a new commission inspired by the Rhapsodies by Canadian composer John Oliver. Other music includes the jazzy Russian virtuosity of Gubaidulina and the beautiful melodies of Brahms.
"Ms. Lieurance had . . . the audience standing" Maine Sunday Telegram "an absolutely stunning performance, with a rare commitment, and complete mastery. Highly recommended!" Henk Guittart, violist, Schoenberg Quartet; Director of Music Programs, Fall & Winter, at The Banff Centre, Canada.
