Food & Folklore "Celebrating 75th Anniversary of Their Eyes Were Watching God"
On Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 6:30pm Eatonville Restaurant welcomes prize-winning author, Alice Walker as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Zora Neale Hurston's most famous book, THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD. Walker helped revive interest in Hurston's life and work after publishing an article in Ms. in 1975 called, "In Search of Zora Neale Hurston".
Join us for a Harlem Renaissance-styled dinner party with music, reading and remembrances. The evening will include a Florida-inspired, four-course dinner and complimentary cocktail. In addition to Alice Walker, other special guests include the DC Library Foundation and singer Tamara Wellons of "Songs for Janie".
Menu: - Lima Bean & Corn Succotash Tart - Blackened Florida's King Grouper with Crawfish Mulatto Rice, Braised Spicy Beet-Greens, and Orange Creole Beurre Blanc - Key Lime Cheesecake - Cherry, Pistachio and Lemon Tea Cakes - Celebratory Cocktail
