If you are ready to design your own shawl, this class is for you! We will tackle the basics of shawl geometry and construction, texture, and color combining. Participants will learn the components of the triangle, crescent, and heart shaped shawl, focusing on personal design and creating the size and features that you prefer. Class covers several shawl-starting methods, including garter tab, 3-stitch cast-on, and provisional cast-on; creating texture with knit and purl patterns; color work and striping/gradation. Well also cover some easy lace, picot, and other edgings. With only 2 decisions to make before you start a shawl, this class shows you how to create a unique, personal shawl as you knit!
Please bring 2-3 colors of contrasting fingering weight yarn, double point needles, size 5; size 5 and 6 24 circular needles; stitch markers and small notions bag with the usual tools.
