INSTITUTO CERVANTES SEPTEMBER FILM CLUB
The Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, presents this new activity that involves the projection of 4 Spanish films, Habana Blues by Benito Zambrano, American Visa by Juan Carlos Valdivia, Martin Hache by Adolfo Aristarain and Chico and Rita by Fernando Trueba. All of them received awards in various international festivals, and they all represent different views on the subject of Latin American immigration to countries like Spain or the United States different motivations and different experiences. The screenings will be followed by a discussion of the film, trying to create a conversational atmosphere perfect for sharing different views and practice your Spanish
American Visa: The dream of many, the story of one. Mario (Demian Bichir), a schoolteacher in the provinces, wants to immigrate to the United States to join his son studying in Miami. When the visa is denied, he plans a heist to buy one at the black market. But fate gives him another challenge, Blanca (Kate del Castillo), an exotic dancer looking for another dream: the dream of Bolivia.
