SAM BROVERMAN LIVE AT THE FLYING BEAVER PUBARET!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th - 7pm
SAM BROVERMAN

Sam will be paying homage to Johnny Mercer for this show. Johnny Mercer's work forms a large part of the table of contents of the American Songbook. He has the largest catalog of published songs of any songwriter of his era, with well over 1000 published songs. As a lyricist, he wrote with over 200 composers, including many of the greatest, including Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Harry Warren, Jimmy van Heusen, Henry Mancini and Johnny Mandel. In this show Sam Broverman will tell the story of Mercer's life through some of his most memorable songs.

ABOUT SAM BROVERMAN:
Over the past few years, Sam has been singing in clubs in Toronto, New York, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Hong Kong. He debuted his Johnny Mercer show last December and performed it at the Metropolitan Room in New York in May. In his review of the NY show in BroadwayShowBiz.com, Ron Forman, on-air host of the jazz radio show "Sweet Sounds" heard on WKRB 90.3 FM in New York said  "What a delight to see and hear a talented and polished singer perform ... Broverman has studied and mastered the art of singing".

Last year Sam released an album of songs by Johnny Mercer. Russ Titleman, Grammy award winning producer of albums by  Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, James Taylor,  Paul Simon, George Harrison, etc. said "You have a very pleasing vocal quality and I especially like the ballads on your record." Rob Lester in his review of the album in Talkinbroadway.com said "His sound is vibrant ... exuberant and excited ... pure joy ... Bravo, Broverman!". Jaymz Bee said of the album "The CD sounds great  you and Ken (Whiteley, producer) did a fantastic job  congrats!  "I Thought About You" is a killer."  Wholenote Magazine's review said " lovely and evocative ... he swings like the best of them".
