MUSAE at Old St. Hilary's Landmark
For hundreds of years, people have celebrated the holiday season with the beautiful and uplifting hymn How Brightly Beams the Morning Star. This enduring symbol of the Christmas season has come to represent birth, renewal, journey, and joy. This December, Musae presents a concert that celebrates this tradition of the Morning Star, with choral music spanning the last 500 years. Works by Praetorius and Bach are paired with music from the Estonian composer Cyrillus Kreek and living composers William Hawley, Michael Sitton and Eleanor Daley. Additionally, Musae will present a set of classic American folk hymns from the Sacred Harp tradition, curated by the vocal group Anonymous 4. Join us for this concert of joy and hopeand some holiday classicsas we celebrate this season of light.
