Intercultural Journeys
Peace Day Philly is a grassroots initiative that encourages active participation across the Philadelphia region on the International Day of Peace, a global day of ceasefire and non-violence observed worldwide on September 21. The Peace Day Philly initiative welcomes organizations, neighborhoods, community groups and individuals to observe this global day by creating and getting involved in peaceful and non-violent activities during the week of September 17th.
In celebration of this initiative, Intercultural Journeys will present its second annual concert in University City at the historic Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, 3723 Chestnut Street. IJ's world-class artists will bring their roots from Israeli, Jordanian, Afghan, and African - American backgrounds to the stage for a remarkable evening.
In celebration of Peace Day and in honor of the occasion, Afghanistan' Internationally renowned artist, composer, and rubâb master, Homayoun Sakhi, will make a special guest appearance for a solo performance and special collaboration with renowned composer, trumpeter, and artist, Hannibal Lokumbe, and IJ's Artistic Director, Udi Bar-David.
The entire evening will include performances by: Hannibal Lokumbe World-renowned African-American trumpeter and artist Homayoun Sakhi Afghanistan' Internationally renowned Artist composer/rubâb master Udi Bar-David Israeli cellist, member of the Philadelphia Orchestra Phyllis Chapel - World Jazz vocalist Farah Siraj - Jordanian vocalist, Jordan's Musical Ambassador Hafez El-Ali Kotain Syrian-Venezuelan percussionist
