We invite you and a guest to attend the next Network Night, hosted by the First 2000 Days Backbone Team.
Engaging Parent and Building Capacity Join us for an evening of sharing, insights and learning.
On December 6th, 2016 please join to learn about the many different ways community groups and organizations are informing and engaging parents in their programs and helping build capacity within community.
Guest speakers will include: 1.StaciBrown from Adventurers School Age Care. Adventurers was a part of The First 2000 Days Network Strengthening Families Parental Resiliency Pilot and has continued to work on creating a "changed relationship with parents". 2.Nalini Mohan, Education Strategist from the City of Calgary. Nalini will be talking about the 'Parents Perspective on Play' survey and how parents were engaged in this process and will share the initial results. 3.Carlene Donnelly, Executive Director at CUPS. Carlene will be sharing how CUPS works on engaging and building capacity with parents. 4.Leslie BarkerRegistered Nurse and Consultant in the area of Healthy Early Child Development and Parenting Education, will speak about what programs and professionals need to consider when trying to engage parents in learning about children and parenting. 5.The Calgary Deep South ECD Coalitionwill share their experience engaging parents at the local level. Understanding that "engagement" is as a process, we will highlight specific examples of parents we have at the coalition table and the value they bring to the planning and implementation of our community action plan. The coalition will also share some tools/actions they are using to mobilize knowledge and raise awareness; a starting point for engagement.
