Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Sarah Arnold, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Mary Kane, Emily Lindholm, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, theyve heard the term "local music.
December guest: Well folks, it's unanimous: John Genz is a possible source of entertainment. This violent lamb of a man has been writing, recording and performing around the Twin Cities for several minutes, during which time he has perfected the imperfectable: a folk/punk decadence that is as earnest as it is ironic, as sober as it is drunken, as A as it is -A. He has been described as catchy by people who aren't even prone to getting songs stuck in their head.
