Romantasy Cabarets Speakeasy Sins is back; The Gin Joints a-Jumpin!
Dust of your spats, untangle the fringe and polish those pearls for a festive night of jazzy entertainment brought to you by Phoenix's naughty lil vaudeville, Romantasy Cabaret. Their annual New Years Eve production, Speakeasy Sins takes place December 31st, and is held at Club Red Theaters in Mesa.
Every Romantasy Cabaret production combines dazzling dance ensembles, vibrant cabaret acts and vaudeville vignettes with titillating burlesque numbers. Speakeasy Sins, a Roaring Twenties-inspired costume ball serves up a heavy dose of decadence and debauchery to ring in the new year. From the time guests arrive they will be greeted by ambient character actors who help set an atmosphere befitting of a seedy speakeasy. Once the show kicks off, guests will marvel at dazzling entertainment, lavish costumes, rousing musical selections and a bawdy show host who keeps the energy high and gay.
Every seat is a good seat at Club Reed Theaters in Mesa with sections divided into VIP Front Row, VIP Reserved and General seating, granting several price points and vantage points for guests to soak in the cabaret entertainment. Romantasy Cabaret urges advance purchase of tickets as seats do sell out for these productions and New Years Eve is their best attended show each season. Guests are encouraged to dress to the nines in 1920s attire and to arrive by 830pm for seating. The show kicks off at 930 pm and there is a champagne toast at midnight. Intermission entertainment will be music for dancing, which will also launch the post-midnight party, to bring the New Year in right.
Romantasy Cabaret productions are part low-brow comedy, part risqué burlesque and part dazzling cabaret. The production company has earned itself numerous awards such as Phoenix New Times Best of Phoenix for Best Vaudeville Entertainment 2009, runner up for Best Local Performing Art Troupe by East Valley Tribune in 2011, and Best Performance Troupe by the City of Tempe for 2012 and 2014. VaVaVoom, the showgirls of Romantasy Cabaret, won 2nd place for Best Performance, Group/Duo Category at the Albuquerque Burlesque and Sideshow Spectacular in 2012 as well as Best Group at Arizona Burlesque Festival in 2015.
Studio VaVaVoom, the learning hub for many of the cast members of these shows won Phoenix Magazines Best of the Valley 2016 for Best Place for Burlesque Classes.
