The Incredible World of Plants
Join Steve Barnhart, retired SRJC instructor and Pepperwoods Academic Director Emeritus, in exploring the diverse world of plants. This introductory class will provide a basic overview of general plant structure, function, and ecology. Discover what sets plants apart from other living organisms and what types of plants exist locally and globally. We will also learn how to tell plant families apart from one another, explore plants in the classroom, and then head out on the preserve to use your new knowledge to search out and identify local plants including mosses, ferns, trees, and wildflowers. This class will include moderate hiking of 1-3 miles at a slow pace.
