Fall into FUN(draiser) with the GrassROOTS Community Foundation - Los Angeles Event
The GrassROOTS Community Foundation (www.grass-rootsfoundation.org) co-founded by Tariq Trotter of the ROOTS and sociologist, Dr. Janice Johnson Dias.
September 19th, One Night Only Cocktail reception event to benefit the GrassROOTS Community Foundation C.H.I.C.K.S program hosted by Shihan Van Clief!
Special Stage Performance of the controversial one act play, "Katrina Who?!" by New Orleans native Melanie Maria Goodreaux. On the 7th anniversary of this devastating storm, this one act is a nod to Hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath. Five survivors tell their own stories in a unique and colorful way that only NOLA residents can. The play features actors from Broadway's THE PRODUCERS, 42nd STREET, TWO and a HALF MEN, and GREY'S ANATOMY.
Our featured performer KAREN GIBSON ROC - is a poet and musician with fierce fearlessness. A musical chameleon she calls herself a poetic vocalist with sounds compared to Gil Scott-Heron without the political edge. Neither depressing nor conflict-oriented, her lyrics are impassioned love songs to femininity and art. She is sure to bring in the love and coolness once she steps on stage. A new album release THE COOL OF THE DAY hits the airwaves September 2012.
This event is sponsored by Epiphany 3 Films & KOMODO Food Truck!
