+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Deltas were a Clinton-based band that formed in 1960 and consisted mostly of Clinton High School students of the Class of 1965. They were a stereotypical "Frat Basement Party Band" that specialized in American garage band classics. The Deltas sprang out of an acoustic band called The Night Owls, circa 1958-60. The Owls played Dixieland, since that was the only sheet music they had available.
Fast forward 50 years. The surviving Deltas have so much fun playing at the 2015 Clinton/Oak Ridge 60s Band Reunion that they decide to keep the magic alive as long as possible. Work begins in earnest in Jake Alexanders Basement Band Room in Oak Ridge in December 2015. Wayburn Phillips, the Deltas original bass player (known as the godfather of bass in Anderson County and surrounding areas in the early 60s, and the guy who gave Jake Alexander several beginners bass lessons in 1963) died in 1988. In the Sunset Years, Wayburn is reverently represented by Jake Alexander, bass player for Boys Night Out since 1983
