Professional Development for Pre-K Teachers: Reflections on Self, Family and Community
Pre-K Teachers are invited to a professional development day that will focus on ways in which contemporary art can support Pre-K instruction. Teachers will look closely at works on view in Black Cowboy during a guided tour, and practice approaches to connecting to multiple aspects of Pre-K units of study, including All About Us and Where We Live. During an art-making workshop, participants will engage in exploration of materials, and discuss strategies to bring back to their school community. Participants will gather museum tools and resources that connect to the New York State Pre-Kindergarten Foundation to the Common Core Standards. Dont miss the chance to learn about resources for educators, upcoming programs, and opportunities for your school or early childhood center! Professional Development for Pre-K-12 Educators is FREE, and RSVP is required! Space is limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast and refreshments will be provided. Educator Programs are made possible by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; New York State Council on the Arts; the Edward W. & Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund; the May & Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc.; Con Edison; the Joseph and Joan Cullman Foundation for the Arts; and Wells Fargo.
