Marks work has been recognized by Roy Sander as A work of genius. Mark Nadler has devised and performed exceptional, and unforgettable showshis work is distinguished by a number of qualities: the high caliber of song interpretations; perceptive analysis of his subjectsometimes discussing the writer's aesthetic, other times putting the material in historical or cultural perspective; and by the breadth of his visionfresh and creative, making the evening a whole that was greater than the sum of its parts. Mark Nadler, who has appeared at Carnegie Hall, on Broadway and everywhere in between was recently heralded by Stephen Holden of The New York Times as "a comic spark plug touched with brilliance, and David Finkle from The Village Voice dubbed him "the most prodigiously talented entertainer working in America today!"
ABOUT AWARD WINNING, BARBARA BRUSSELL: -HOWARD REICH, Chicago Tribune-- Brussell left little doubt that she is a formidable interpreter with a unique perspective on familiar and novel repertoire. .The singer understands more than just the words and notes on the printed page: She knows the nature of the characters who sing them. STEPHEN HOLDEN, New York Times-- Her dramatic instincts give every word a purposeful intention. Genuinely real and touching. Unearthing
ROY SANDER, BaskStage-- Brussell epitomizes the art of cabaret singing. She doesnt just sing (a song), she inhabits it.
CABARET LEGEND, STEVE ROSS wrote to Mark Nadler about Barbara's show," She was giving us LESSONS!" Its not Paris thats the moveable feast its Barbara Brussell. What a marvelous evening (couldnt fight my way to you!). Every song no every truthful, funny, touching moment, musical or non- a delightful moving revelation.
WHAT IS "CABARET?" Kind of a nightclub act, often with a theme. Where a singer and musician(s), usually a pianist, explore and interpret songs and tell stories in an original way,. A theme could be songs of a individual composer or lyricist, or a story about someone biographical or an autobiographical journey. An art form that began in Paris, was developed in Germany, and later was embraced in America. Today it has evolved as an art form that draws from all music, but often from what is called ,The Great American Songbook. An artist can choose any topic, or non at allstringing songs together that weave a story, hopefully, transport you on a musical journey and bring you back home safely, and a little more alive!!
