Cecilia Corrigan: Motherland
The thunderous conclusion of a seasons worth of political hysteria, Cecilia Corrigans Motherland culminates with a performance of the full episodic cycle of the piece at ISSUE Project Room on December 3rd, 2016. Compiling video works, performance, and collaborative psychoanalysis, the piece follows a serialized narrative premiered on BOMB Magazine, mirroring and responding in real time to the mommy issues of the 2016 American electorate.

A shadow narrative of the upcoming election, Motherland is a saga of our antihero Hillary Clinton as she struggles towards her presidential throne in a landscape that blends contemporary reality, Mount Olympus, and Jerry Seinfelds 1998 apartment.

The show invites the audience into the physical embodiment of the Motherland universe -- as sculptural and video works inhabit the space in which they were born (ISSUE). Following a soft opening of Corrigans sculptural series H, the live performance and film screening of the Motherland opus will reveal the startling conclusion tying the performance and video series together.
