Performance and Choreography for Dance and Older Adults Training Day
Rambert is delivering a specialist training day to share how the company works creatively to produce performances and choreography with older adults from the community. The day will discuss the different approaches to choreography through exploring improvisation, repertoire, technique and creativity. It will also acknowledge the psychological aspects of performing when over 60 and what the positive and challenging outcomes may be. Rambert has two older performance groups, Mercury Movers (in-house at Rambert) and Hounslow Seniors (community group) therefore this day will explore the differences in culture, resources, organisation and the values of performing with these two groups. On this training day you will have a chance to meet members from both performance groups and have an opportunity to watch them work practically as well as ask questions about performance in an open discussion. The day will be led by the two animateurs; Laura Harvey and Jane Woolley, who have extensive knowledge of creating performance pieces for older adults and lead on our regular over 60s programme. This intensive day will include theoretical aspects, practical workshops, performances by older adults and a Q&A session. Refreshments and lunch will be provided throughout the day.
