One of A Far Cry's four commissions of the season, Ted Hearne's diverse "Law Of Mosaics" is the inspiration for an entire concert of "patchwork" structures. According to Hearne, greenhouses were his inspiration, in the way they bring together plants from around the world, creating unexpected neighbors. Hearne's eclectic style is mirrored by the Variations on an Elizabethan Theme, which is a multi-movement work with each movement composed by a different English composer. Shostakovich and Boccherini round out the Patchwork.
