MAKING WAVES
NOTE: This event has been postponed, and will be combined the Erato Ensemble's concert The Living Ocean, on November 26, at the Annex. We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to see you in November!
Vancouver: On Sunday, October 30 at 3:00-5:00 pm, Living Oceans Society and Erato Ensemble join forces to support a good cause and launch a new season of melodic music at the Orpheum Annex, 823 Seymour Street, Vancouver. Enjoy a concert, grab some bargains and save the oceans.
Living Oceans celebrates the success of the 2016 GarBarge marine debris recovery and thanks its volunteers for a job well done with a short presentation on the seasons efforts. Come enjoy performances from members of Erato Ensemble, be the first to hear about their new season, and learn about a brand new work that will be premiered at their season-opening concert, which takes its inspiration from Living Oceans environmental work.
The Orpheum Annex is one of Vancouvers newest performance spaces to incubate creative artists and their works. Enjoy snacks and drinks at the cash bar, and carry them into the theatre to browse and bid on bargains in the silent auction.
Living Oceans is a B.C. non-profit society working to ensure Healthy Oceans, Healthy Communities. Founded in the tiny fishing village of Sointula off Vancouver Islands northeast coast, Living Oceans seeks solutions that enable us to use the oceans without using them up. The group has worked annually since 2008 to remove plastic marine debris from North Island beaches and this year, co-ordinated the removal of an estimated 40 tonnes of debris collected by groups all along the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Erato is Vancouvers professional art-song chamber ensemble. Not your mothers classical music, Eratos performances range from beautiful to challenging to humorous to thought-provoking. Erato dares to be different; to show the public that skilled musicians can bring melodic new music to Vancouver. Their season-opening concert on November 26 at the Annex features music inspired by the beauty, power and protection of the sea, and is inspired by the important environmental efforts of Living Oceans Society.
