Mozart Chamber Music for Fortepiano and Strings - 2nd Saturday Concert Series
Andy Canepa, Fortepiano; Anthony Martin, violin; David Sego, viola; and Adaiha MacAdam-Somer, cello
The piano was born in 1690, approximately 66 years before Mozart was born. This early version of the piano is now called the Fortepiano and is very different than the modern piano in construction and sound. The piano used for this concert is a replica after Dulcet 1795 made by the builder Paul Polletti. The string instruments are also period instrument replicas. This combination of period instruments creates a very different sound from our modern sound conception of Mozart's Music. The warmth, intimacy and vitality of these instruments provides a listening experience that would be much closer to that of Mozart's time.
The artists will present the Piano Quartet in g minor and the piano trio in E major, both by Mozart.
