Mahogany Ensemble Theatre presents the 3rd Biennial Southern Black Theatre Festival in Shreveport, LA. This exciting two-weekend event, featuring live theatre productions, cinema screenings, youth talent showcase, drama awards, cultural workshops, celebrity appearances, and more will be held September 27-October 6, 2012 in the neighboring cities of Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana.
Since 2008, over 3,000 youth and adults have participated in SBTF events. Over 60 regional and national celebrity guests, artists, scholars, & theatre organizations have engaged festival audiences including-- Emmy Award winner Keith David, Soul Food Film Star Irma P. Hall, John O'Neal Artist/Activist/Founder of Junebug Productions, Louisiana Native & Co-Founder of the world renown Negro Ensemble Company, Douglas Turner Ward, and Inaugural National Honorary Chair, the late Judi Ann Mason veteran Hollywood playwright and screenwriter of movie Sister Act 2: Back In the Habit, as national honorary chair and recipient of the Spirit of Creativity Award (which is now named in her honor).
Attendees can select from (2) festival packages: SBTF Full Fest Pass (VIP ALL ACCESS) or SBTF Fest Pass (Regional Weekend Only); Festival Performers and Presenters participation rates are also available. Individual Special Event tickets are also available.
