Blue Bicycle Books Charleston Author Series Luncheon with Brian Hicks, Post and Courier Metro Columnist
Join us Friday, October 28 at noon for Blue Bicycle Books Charleston Author Series luncheon at High Cotton, with Charleston's own Brian Hicks for the release of his latest book, "Greetings from Charleston: Rants & Raves from The Post and Courier Columnist," a compilation of columns by Hicks with a foreword by Post and Courier Managing Editor Rick Nelson.

Tickets are just $31 for the author talk and delicious three-course luncheon at High Cotton, or $56 that includes the luncheon plus a signed, hardcover copy of "Greetings From Charleston." High Cotton is located at 199 East Bay Street in downtown Charleston. Of course, there will be a full-service cash bar.

About the Book:
"Greetings from Charleston" collects the best and most notorious of Hicks columns as chosen by Hicks and Nelson. And, the book features brand-new commentary and columns never-before-seen in print, as well as behind-the-scenes tales from the guy whose only job description is to stir it up.

For the past decade, Hicks has been slaughtering the Lowcountry's sacred cows by the herd in his thrice-weekly metro column, and it has provoked some, uh, reactions. Hicks award-winning column has become part of the local conversation on politics, life in South Carolina and Mark Sanford's love life. (Though not necessarily in that order.)

About the Author:
By day Hicks is a senior writer and metro columnist with the Post and Courier. He has covered Southern politics for more than 20 years, including turns as a statehouse correspondent in three states. For 25 years, his journalism has appeared in national magazines and newspapers and he has won more than two-dozen awards for his reporting.

Hicks and his books have been featured on National Public Radio and in major newspapers including the Boston Globe, Philadelphia Enquirer, and Chicago Tribune. He has been featured on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and CBS Sunday Morning.

In 1998, he was named South Carolina Journalist of the Year by the S.C. Press Association. And in 2008, the Society of Professional Journalists named Hicks the best humor columnist in the Southeast.  A native of Cleveland, Tennessee, he lives in Charleston with his wife Beth and their sons Cole and Nate.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is served promptly at noon. Limited seating provides an intimate experience with the author. There is a cash bar for your enjoyment.

High Cotton is located at 199 East Bay Street, where the luncheon and discussion will take place. Parking is available at the Cumberland Street Garage, other municipal lots or at meters on the street.
