Save Your Clothing From the Landfill: Mend, Tailor, Swap
The Ethical Writers Coalition is teaming up with Patagonia to bring you a special event to help you prolong the life of your garments, or give them new life in someone else's wardrobe. We all have clothing in our closets that we never wear - maybe something is too big, too short, needs mending, or is just not our style anymore. Plus all of those costumes haunting us from Halloweens past! We understand - unless you toss them in the trash. Give your costumes another night on the town and your garments a chance to see another season! Join in for a day of swapping, mending and tailoring and save your clothing from the landfill.
Ethical businesses Kordal Knitwear and the NYC Fair Trade Coalition will be on hand to show you how to mend sweaters, sew on buttons & patches, and re-fashion old t-shirts. Patagonia and Karolyne Ashley will be taking orders for items that require more advanced mending and tailoring. On top of all that fun, well have a special area dedicated to Halloween costume swapping, sparkling wine, and an all-around good time with NYCs sustainability community! Come out and meet some new friends, snag some new-to-you items for your costume box or fall/winter wardrobe, and update those pieces that just need a little extra love.
