Emerald Ridge High School Fall Play
A new adaptation of a charming French classic, A DOCTOR IN SPITE OF HIMSELF follows Sganarelle, a shiftless woodcutter who becomes, unbeknownst to him, the most famous and learned of doctors in all the land. A quarrel with his wife, Martine, puts the play in motion, with Martine vowing to get even with Sganarelle for his wicked treatment of her. What follows is hilarious string of events that finds the newly christened doctor offering cures and treatments to unwitting and gullible patients, at first prospering but later finding himself in a spot of trouble. In the end, fortunes are found, broken hearts are mended, death is avoided, and reconciliation comes to Sganarelle and Martine. Loaded with physical comedy, music, and gags of the ridiculous sort, A DOCTOR IN SPITE OF HIMSELF is certain to entertain!
