826michigan Presents Sweater Weather: A Fall Fundraising Dinner!
On Saturday, October 19, at 7pm join local nonprofit 826michigan and acclaimed graphic novelist Jim Ottaviani for elegant food prepared by Chef Brad Greenhill of Righteous Rojo, decor by pot&box, and great company in the elegant Mansion at 841 W Boston Blvd, located in Detroit's historic Boston-Edison neighborhood.

Proceeds from this event benefit 826michigan's new In-School Residencies in the City of Detroit, through which volunteers are organized on a continual basis to support teachers in overcrowded classrooms. This program currently serves several public and charter schools in the city, including Boggs Academy, Amelia Earhart Elementary-Middle School, and University Preparatory Academy.

Jim Ottaviani (Feynman, Primates) is the world's preeminent writer of comics and graphic novels about science. Notable works include a biography of Niels Bohr and the fast-paced tale of the desperate lives of early paleontologists and T-Minus: The Race to the Moon, from Aladdin Books. He has worked as a nuclear engineer and is currently employed as a reference librarian at the University of Michigan. Ottaviani is also a long-standing volunteer at 826michigan, serving two hours per week in the organization's after-school tutoring program for students aged 6-18.
826michigan is a nonprofit organization housed inside Liberty Street Robot Supply & Repair. 826michigan provides free creative writing and tutoring services, as well as support for public school classrooms and high-quality publication of young authors, to nearly 2,500 students in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Detroit.
